Diary, 1830 Aug.-1834 Sep., kept by merchant Hiram N. Peck of New York City. In his diary entries, the writer records his daily activities as a Sunday school teacher, his regular attendance of religious services and lectures, meetings of teachers' associations and visits to various area schools, spiritual thoughts and reflections, his participation in the Young Men's New York Bible Society and the New York Sunday School Union, and related societies; visits to his family in Connecticut, family news, special events and social occasions in New York, including social visits to the Averys, Vanderbilts, etc., including a business venture with C. Vanderbilt. Also included are selections of verse, along with religious sentiments, proverbs, words of advice, and resolutions.
